What's new in Gamestage
The changes you can use, newest first, one entry a month.
October 2026
Published 23 October 2026, with the Gamestage command line tool 0.59.0. Run npx gamestage@latest to get it.
Your organisation's starter apps and themes
An organisation can now give every new game the same starting point. An admin publishes a starter app, a working app in your own stack with your SDK version and analytics already in it, and a member starts a game from it:
gamestage create --starter harbour-app- A starter app names the formats it plays, and
createrefuses any other, before anything is registered. - An admin can retire an old version. Games made from it keep working; new games stop getting it.
gamestage org adminslists who can change your organisation's starter apps, themes and integration notes.org starter publish --checkruns the same checks the server runs, on your machine, before anything uploads.- Themes can carry their own font, shipped inside your games rather than fetched from a font service.
gamestage theme use harbourtakes the newest version of a theme and wires it into your app.- Stage's Organisation page shows your integration notes, starter apps, themes and admins, and says whom to ask for a change.
Analytics you switch on
Monterosa Analytics (Signal) runs only on the Publisher and Enterprise plans, and only once you switch it on. You can now do that from the command line as well as on Stage's Analytics page:
gamestage workspace signal onIt collects only from fans who consent, and it needs no change to your code.
Games inside other apps
- A game opens straight on its round when it uses the card layout, for a game shown as a widget inside a host app. Redeploy a card game to get it.
- A host app can own consent. Where your own app already asks fans for consent, Monterosa can set that on your organisation. Your games then show no consent banner or age gate of their own, and record nothing until your app allows it.
- Games load quickly inside apps that are not Monterosa SDK 2 hosts. A game no longer waits for a connection such an app never offers.
Files and names
- Each file you deploy can be up to 25 MB, and a file over that is refused before it uploads, with its name and size.
- A file's type now comes from its extension, so video, audio and newer image formats are served properly.
gamestage rename my-game "New name"gives a game a new name and keeps its id. Stage and the game's Studio project show the new name at once.
Your data, and our terms
- A game's data belongs to its creator. Our privacy notice now says so plainly, Signal analytics included: Monterosa processes it for you, only for the purposes you approve.
- New terms, version 2026-10-23. They add a clause on game integrity: we make reasonable efforts to provide Engines that prevent common forms of cheating, without promising that no game can be manipulated. You are asked to accept them before your next deploy. Read them at /terms.
