{"doc":"attribution","title":"What Gamestage is built on","markdown":"# What Gamestage is built on\n\nGamestage ships other people's work into a creator's project, and this page says\nwhose and under what licence. It covers what the tool puts in your game, what\nthe product runs on, and where the look comes from.\n\n## In your game\n\nThese are the things a deploy puts at a URL a fan opens, so they are the ones\nthat matter most to a creator.\n\n| What | Whose | Licence |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| [Monterosa SDK 2 kits](https://products.monterosa.co/mic/developer-guide/embedding-experiences/web-1): connect, interact, consent, storage, analytics | [Monterosa](https://www.monterosa.co/) | Commercial, included with the platform |\n| `@monterosa/gamestage`, the Gamestage client, over those kits | Monterosa | Ours |\n| `gamestage-player.js`, the player API client | Monterosa | Ours |\n\n`@monterosa/gamestage` pins every kit to **2.0.0-rc.9**. That is a release\ncandidate, and deliberately: there is no stable SDK 2 to pin instead, and the\nalternative is SDK 1, which is the thing SDK 2 replaces. The pin is exact rather\nthan caretted, because a range across release candidates takes breaking changes\nsilently. [The SDK](https://products.monterosa.co/mic/developer-guide/interaction-sdk)\nis documented by the people who write it; what we wrap and why is in\n[Player API](/docs/player-api).\n\n## The look\n\nEvery drawing on this site and every illustration in the blog derives from\n**Open Peeps**, the hand-drawn illustration library by **Pablo Stanley**,\nreleased under **CC0**. The register is stated once, in `scripts/illustrate.mjs`,\nand the marketing page and the notes both read it from there.\n\nA deployed game's card art is a different set and owes Open Peeps nothing. It\nis not generated: `packages/schema/src/preset-art.ts` holds twenty ink\ndrawings of sushi and temaki, served from `public/ink/`, and a game is given\none at registration, chosen by its format rather than drawn for it. Every hunt\ncarries the same drawing, every push a different one.\n\nCC0 asks for nothing. It is named here anyway, because a visual identity is the\nmost visible thing a product borrows and the least often credited.\n\n`react-peeps`, the React port of Open Peeps used on the site, is not Pablo\nStanley's own work: it is **Emre Çakır's** implementation of it, under the MIT\nlicence.\n\n## The product\n\nThe site, Stage and the CLI are built on:\n\n| What | Licence |\n| --- | --- |\n| [Next.js](https://nextjs.org/) and [React](https://react.dev/) | MIT |\n| [Tailwind CSS](https://tailwindcss.com/) | MIT |\n| [Radix UI](https://www.radix-ui.com/) and [shadcn/ui](https://ui.shadcn.com/) | MIT |\n| [HeroUI](https://www.heroui.com/) | MIT |\n| [Lucide](https://lucide.dev/) icons | ISC |\n| [cmdk](https://cmdk.paco.me/) and [Sonner](https://sonner.emilkowal.ski/) | MIT |\n| [Commander](https://github.com/tj/commander.js) | MIT |\n| [esbuild](https://esbuild.github.io/) | MIT |\n| [Playwright](https://playwright.dev/) | Apache 2.0 |\n| Archivo, Manrope and Big Shoulders, via [Fontsource](https://fontsource.org/) | SIL Open Font License 1.1 |\n\nThe downloaded CLI is one bundled file, so the packages above that it uses are\ninside it. It is minified, with a readable banner at the top carrying the\nlicence and what the tool does and does not do. The unminified sources are not\npublished.\n\n## Gamestage itself\n\nGamestage is Monterosa's, and not open source. The generated clients it writes\ninto a creator's project are the creator's to ship.\n\nIf something here is wrong or missing, that is a defect rather than a formality.\nTell us.\n"}
